WORKac revitalized Cornell’s historic Sibley Dome by suspending a 114-seat lecture hall within it, combining innovative structural engineering, cold-formed framing, acoustic treatments, preservation, and expressive curved architectural forms.

How do you add a modern lecture hall inside a historic dome without compromising what makes it special? At Cornell University, WORKac’s answer was to suspend it. The new 114-seat lecture hall hangs within Sibley Dome, combining inventive structural engineering, curved framing, acoustics, and historic preservation. The result transforms a challenging existing space into something entirely new—while allowing the landmark dome and its original character to remain central to the experience.
