Spiral Coffered Dome Tops Faena Forum Theatre in the Round

/ SCOPE

Develop, fabricate, pre-assemble and deliver structural, cold-formed metal framing to construct a 70-foot diameter spiral coffered dome within a concrete building shell.

• Develop a cold-formed metal framing system to replace the originally specified concrete dome

• Deliver a trussed dome package, assembly instructions with color-coding for efficient installation.

• Meet specified 2-hour fire rating for dome structural components.

• Coordinate dome structural capacity with structural anchors for lighting, theatrical and AV equipment.

• Deliver the full solution in a compressed 9 week schedule
  

/ SOLUTION

Radius Track used digital laser scans of the concrete shell and structural connection points to develop and fabricate hybrid cold-formed steel/tube steel trusses and framing elements. The entire framing system was designed and sequenced to optimize installation efficiency.

• Hybrid trusses easily fit through building openings and set in place with chain hoists and scaffolding.

• Easy to follow installation instructions for each type of framing element in the dome package.

• Performance designed metal framing delivered to meet the contractors tight schedule.

Outsourcing the custom fabricated dome framing to Radius Track provided a CONSTRUCTABLE, PERFORMANCE BASED solution that saved the contractor time, allowed them to maximize on-site labor efficiency and met the tight schedule.
