Design plans for the new Catholic Church of St. Michael were lofty:
a 60-foot diameter dome in the
center of the space, plus three
apses along the perimeter. The architecture firm, Williams/O’Brien Associates, Inc., wanted lightweight domes that would not require
massive columns for support.
